Drug Classification Table -  Appendix to the Formulary

C&PJPG designates drugs according to the following classifications:

 

NOT RECOMMENDED:  Not routinely funded for prescribing by either Secondary or Primary Care and in line with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG policy, not a priority for funding.  Should only be used in exceptional cases and prescribing may be subject to challenge.

 

HOSPITAL ONLY:  Not routinely funded for prescribing in Primary Care because of clinical issues and/or in line with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG policy, not a priority for funding.  Prescribing may be subject to challenge.

 

RECOMMENDED (WITH SHARED CARE):  Reviewed by C&PJPG and considered suitable for initial prescribing by specialists in Secondary and Tertiary Care with prescribing continued by GPs and Primary Care clinicians in conjunction with a Shared Care Agreement.

 

RECOMMENDED:  Reviewed by C&PJPG and considered for suitable for prescribing in Primary Care 

 

Any new drug or new indication for a drug should be regarded as Not Recommended or Hospital Only until considered by C&PJPG.
